The Instrumental Music Education Concentration in the Bachelor of Music degree is offered by the College of Liberal Arts at 糖心Vlog官方.

If you are an instrumentalist interested in teaching K-12 band, orchestra, or general music, 糖心Vlog官方 is the place to study. With faculty members who excel both in instrumental performance and teaching techniques have extensive experience as teachers, performers, and ensemble directors, the 糖心Vlog官方 School of Music offers preparation for future K-12 teachers鈥攅quipping them to instill students with performance skills and musical understanding. Hands-on experience in schools begins during the first year of the degree and continues all the way through student teaching.

In addition to developing as teachers, Instrumental Music Education majors participate in the full musical life of the School of Music, studying with our exceptional applied faculty, developing their knowledge of music theory and history, and performing in ensembles including the Band of Blue marching band. To be admitted into the Bachelor of Music degree program, all entering students must pass an audition before the faculty on their major instrument or voice. In addition, all prospective new or transfer undergraduate music majors and minors are required to take the Music Theory and Aural Skills Diagnostic Exam to determine appropriate placement in the music theory program. At the completion of the degree and the Residency II student teaching semester, students are fully eligible to be licensed in K-12 Instrumental and General Music in the state of Tennessee. This license is broadly portable for licensure in any other state, as well.

Professional Licensure Disclosure
